i dont care what people think i am ELECTING a c section and not for medical reasons i have an intense fear of giving birth and was molested as a child so i dont want any pain down in that region. i have discussed it with my obstetrician and she believes it is a the best thing for me. Who are you to judge anyway??? my obstetrician has given me the pros and cons of both and there is still risks associated with natural birth, just because you have a natural birth doesnt mean you will have a problem free delivery. Its up to the mother, and for me i choose a c section.

Just a note, c-sections are more risky than vaginal birth. A c-section is major abdominal surgery and people forget this simply because it is so common. Developed countries have very low rates of maternal death but the ones that do happen, happen more often during a c-section. Not trying to freak anyone out, just wanting to make sure that people who "choose" this option (I’m not talking about medical need) realize that it’s not a simple matter.

My scar is not even noticable….It is low down. My son was breech so i had to have a c-section but that was what i was wanting all along while i was pregnant,
I was in labor for about 8-9 hours even though i knew and the doctors knew i could not have him natural which i did not run to the hospital as soon as i started hurting.
I only have one child but if i had another one i would want a c-section because i do not want nothing coming out of my vagina.
I lost my weight a month after i had my son which i had only gained 11 pounds during my pregnancy.
I did not put my child’s health at risk…He was breech, i had pre-eclampsia and the fluid around him was low plus i was in premature labor that could not be stopped at 35 weeks.
Just because i had a c-section does not mean i am better and anyone who has a baby vaginally is no better either.

I do not know anyone who told a doctor "hey i want a c-section" they will not do a c-section on you unless it is needed.

most women have C section because they have to for the health of the baby and them self. BUT yes some women want then. They think it would be easier and less pain, They don’t want their Vaginas to get stretched because after you have a baby it is never the same.

My fiancee said that some guys ask their wives to have them because they don’t the Vagina to be different and you might be-able to have sex sooner if you have a C section if you do it naturally you have to wait 6 weeks or longer.

I pray that I can have a fully natural birth. I want to do it the way god intended it to be done.

C-sections are no more risky for your baby than natural vaginal birth, the scar is low and not that bad for 99.9% of women I see, and insurance does cover it.

I don’t know why women choose this other than those who had to have a c-section for medical reasons with their first and then when had others they continued to do it that way since it is more difficult to have a successful VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarian).

It is a horrible choice to intentionally do it for non-medical reasons. The risks are great. for mom and baby…Infection is the most common and that can be horrible. I mean…a vacuum attached to the infected wound for months…horrible

some women do it because they want to stay "tight" down there. but seriously, that’s stupid.
I had to do a C-section emergency, didn’t like it and don’t know how ANYONE can choose to go with it

i have had a c-section with my first due to medical reasons an also am having an elective one this time as it is not possible to have a vbac at the small country hospital i am attending…
i did not have any problem losing weight or getting better after my c-section also the scar is barely visible i dont think u can compare vaginal over a c-section as u have obviously never had a c-section…also what gives u the right to judge people that do?…?

I don't know why people would WANT a c-section the first time. The second becuase A- they had a c-section the first time and aren't ok doing vaginal after that. B- cant, or C- know the experience from the first one and had such an awful one ( alot of tearing, long labor ect ect) that they opt to do it that way. I recovered pretty quickly after my c-section but again i didn't have a choice and it was my first child so i guess idk what natural is like and ill never know. I'm just not build to have a natural birth and i am kinda sad about it.

As far as the scar goes it’s not on your stomach it’s on your bikini line and it’s not really visible. I had one 10 months ago and you can’t even see the scar. And it’s not a scar that you’re ashamed of!

If I had to choose, i wouldn’t have. For me, I didn’t have a choice. Yes, it was a scheduled c-section so I didn’t have to deal with labor pains, but it was for purely medical reasons. My son was way breach and I didn’t have room for him to be righted due to a congenital abnormality with the uterus. To be honest, neither of us would have survived labor if we had tried that course. As it was, he was facing the wrong direction in more than one way and he had wedge himself up under my ribs and was blocking a good portion of my diaphram. It took two nurses practically standing on me to get him out, he was wedged so tightly. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have chosen a c-section for anything. I’m not excited for the next one!

I’m having a c-section – but not out of choice – for medical reasons. My doctor doesn’t give any of his patients the option to choose. I actually didn’t know you can choose.

some babies have big heads so it is hard for them to come out. & once you get it once, you must get it again.

Personally I agree with you, I plan on going natural vaginal unless an emergency arises. I can't really understand some of the reasons. But I do know that some women elect for them due to problems with previous pregnancies and they don't want to risk it again, some are scared to death (i know a girl who had an emergency caesar as she was so afraid when she went into labour it was going to be dangerous to let her continue so that is a valid reason). There are more of course but those are a few I know of.

I have honestly heard of (and know a couple) of women who had a c-section done because they didn't want their vagina to stretch out.

Why do some women have c-sections over natural birth?
Why do some women have c-sections by choice over natural vaginal birth? Not only are mom putting their and their baby’s health at risk, but the recovery period looks terrible and exhausting, when some moms can have already lost the weight by the time moms who had c-sections are allowed to work out. Plus why would any mom want a scar on their stomach for life instead of a usual 2-20 hour labor. I also believe that insurance doesn’t cover the cost of a c-section. I’m not trying to be mean to anybody who has had a c-section, but come on are moms to posh to push now.

P.S. I know some women have c-sections due to medical reasons this is for women that have via elective c-sections.
