Emergency.. help please.. i need to know all the checks that are made to pregnant women by the health service to ensure that they are healthy?
You have a blood sample taken to check for anaemia and any other illness that may cause problems during pregnancy (the results usually take about 1-2 weeks) Your urine is checked for infection/kidney function and sugars to check you are not developing maternal diabetes. Your blood pressure is taken as high blood pressure can indicate complications You may be weighed and your height measured and the midwife will examine your abdomen to check the size of your womb. She/he will also listen to the baby’s heart beat . The midwife will also take your family medical history …ei if twins exist.
Blood pressure and cholesterol all done by blood tests and urine checked for sugars levels for diabetes, HIV, That’s what they checked for when I was pregnant, except HIV, that wasn’t around in 1979
